Why is Andhra Pradesh the most preferred State for Higher Education? Andhra Pradesh has become the most preferred destination for higher education. This has come about because the State has the necessary educational infrastructure on the one hand and employment organizations to indirectly nurture these institutions on the other. The interaction of Higher Education institutions and global industry has spelled magic. The growth is mainly centred round software and Hitech City. Owing to the growing job prospects in Hitech city within Hyderabad, educators in the State have been setting up institutes to teach right from basics of computers to highly technical courses such as SAP and soft skills. Call centres, BPOs, KPOs, software parks and hardware parks, Biotech Park and manufacturing industries have sprung up. Some of these units have gone to Visakhapatnam on the East Coast as well. A high-profile science city is coming up in Anantpur. The State is wel developed with public sector units such as BHEL, ECIL, and BEL. There are also research units such as DRDO and CCMB. Each of the 23 districts in the state is going to have a university, Jawaharlal Nehry Technological University, which has in its jurisdiction most of the 335 private engineering colleges, 194 MBA and 281 MCA colleges in the state, is doing immense service for the cause of technical education. JNTU is proposed to setup full pledged universityoperating at Anantapur in Rayalaseema and Kakinada in Coastal Andhra. Thus the three regions in the State are going to witness further technological developments. This is only one aspect. Actually the growth has been spurred by the enlightened State government which has allocated land to global institutions, educational, entrepreneurial and technical, paving the way for easy development. Plus the people of the State in general, and those of Hyderabad in particular, are friendly and cosmopolitan. The culture is varied with Hindustani-speaking Hyderabad surrounded by Telugu-speaking districts. The cuisine of the State is delicious and spicy. Hyderabadi biryani is famous in this part of the world. Haleem, another delicacy, is fast catching in the Arab World and crores of rupees worth of this tasty stew is being exported to the Gulf by the tons during the holy month of Ramazan. The cuisine in other parts of Andhra is not far behind, with spices and chillies ruling the roast. There is tremendous scope for entertainment in the State with Tollywood, Bollywood and Hollywood films, fans and lots of fun. What more can a young person pursuing Higher Education expect – quality education, fun and global job prospects? Against such a backdrop, higher education thrives in the State. BITS-Pilani is setting up a sprawling campus. With many of AP youth making a beeline to Pilani, BITS has decided to come to the doorstep of Hyderabad. Georgia Tech is also setting up its eastern unit in the city. Many British and American universities are making a beeline to AP with tie-ups or directly seeking to set up their campus in the State. Higher Education is getting a further boost in the State, with the government setting up three more universities, boosting the number to 19. It will not be a surprise even if you have to update the number of colleges under each of these universities on a day-to-day basis. Such is the magic of Higher Education in Hyderabad. Building bridges with Bangalore, which is the software capital of the country, Hitech city is directly being connected to Karnataka capital to pave the way for Information Super Highway in the country. The Bangalore-based Infosys is setting up a big campus of its own in Shamshabad near Hyderabad in preference to the Karnataka capital. This alone is an instance of Hyderabad’s job potential and its propensity to emerge tops. En route Science City is coming up in Anantpur. Once the Hardware Park, also near Shamshabad gets off the ground, and all the industries in the surrounding area start off as expected, Andhra Pradesh capital can accommodate most of the engineers graduating from almost all the institutions. Same goes for all the other educational streams. Already, thousands of emerging engineers are finding campus placements. That is why Andhra Pradesh, particularly Hyderabad, has become the most preferred destination for Higher Education. It is being supported in full measure by the global industry focusing on Hyderabad for its all round talents.
