Q)

For a student from life science background, could an advanced diploma in Network engineering consisting of A+, N+, CCNA, MSCE, RHCE, find him a job ? I plan to go into bioinformatics field at a later stage before that I want to work in IT sector, does this option look feasible to you?

With A+, N+,CCNA, MCSE, and RHCE certifications, it is possible for a life sciences person to find a good job in IT and define a good career path, provided he has a logical and technical aptitude and will to work hard and odd hours. However if you plan to go in bio-informatics at a later stage, then a software development domain career will be more suitable than a networking career. A networking career will be totally off the track of bio-informatics, while in case of software development, there can be a blend of life science knowledge and IT technology . In case of further clarification and assistance feel free to revert.

Q)

I passed out Btech in ECE in 2008. I want to know that if I do VLSI course, will I able to get job in a software company or in the good telecom company. If I am unable to get job in electronics, then it will help me. I do not want to do job with a telecom vendor. Give me a suggestion suitable for my professional growth?

Since it is a recession time so it is not a guarantee that if you go for a VLSI course, you will get a break. However considering your educational profile, VLSI course is the best choice and after that you should get a good break, as there is great demand for VLSI professionals in IT as well as telecom sector. However since most important at this time is to get a break so that you are able to add on to your experience and remove the tag of fresher, we would recommend not to be very particular about the job and company profile. If the job is relevant to your educational and professional qualifications, you should take it so that the tag of fresher is removed and then search for a better job.

Q)

I have 10 months experience with a publication as a Management Trainee (Marketing). I am on probation right now. I am not happy with the work environment in the company. I have got an offer with an education service provider. Where I would be a permanent employee and am getting a raise plus additional incentives based on my performance. Should I wait? Or should I grab?

we strongly recommend that do not join another job because of the fact that you do not like the present one, instead you should grab another opportunity if you really like it. In today s competitive world, nothing is permanent. So first you analyze the new opportunity what role is being offered to you and whether that is of really what you are looking for, if yes, then by all means go and grab that and if not then we will suggest that you stick to the existing one.
